Last night we held our annual leadership gala. This year, we talked about our business using sports terms and attendees wore their favorite sports team attire. We talked about the ‘game’ we play and we talked about how we intend to win that game. But most of all, we talked about what it really means to be a team. Every team has superstars. Here are a few of ours:
Associate of the Year, Team Player - Eddie Alvarez (pictured left)
Presented by Luis De La O, Front Office Manager
Eddie has served in many capacities at Renaissance ClubSport. He has worked at the club desk, in the restaurant as a server, in DTS, on the overnight hotel audit shift and as a valet. Several times throughout his employment, Eddie moved to another department because he knew that is where we needed him most. The great thing is that no matter what his current job is, Eddie is always willing to help out wherever he is needed.
Associate of the Year, Customer Service Star – Rocio Costa (pictured right)

Presented by Maria Garcia, Executive Housekeeper
Rocio, has been a member of the Renaissance ClubSport team for 7 years. She is willing to help housekeeping throughout the property. Anywhere she works, she treats the people around her to a delightful smile and a warm greeting, all the while performing her job to a high standard. When Maria is not here, Rocio often steps up and leads the Housekeeping team.
Associate of the Year, Outstanding Performer – Gladys Colocho (pictured right)
Presented by Amy Tye, Program Marketing Director
When Junior Programming Director, Annie Schneider announced that she was expecting a baby, we looked to Gladys to take on more responsibility. Gladys has risen to the occasion in remarkable fashion. She has done a great job overseeing the department and has earned the respect of her peers and managers. Gladys has a delightful spirit and is truly a unique character. In addition to running KidsWorld, Gladys coaches peewee soccer and was this year’s runner-up at the RCS annual chili cook-off. Gladys is the third two-time winner and first ever back-to-back Associate of the Year!

Manager of the Year – Brian Hasegawa, Food and Beverage Manager
Presented by Marnie Harvey, Director of Operations
Brian is tremendously dedicated to Renaissance ClubSport Walnut Creek. He participates in leadership of every food and beverage outlet that we have. He oversees daily operations in the restaurant, deli and bar and is heavily involved with banquets operations. During the summer, he takes on the outdoor poolside service. To these departments Brian has brought high expectations. Additionally Brian is one of the people we can always count on to help with the heavy lifting (literally). When we re-carpeted rooms, Brian participated daily in clearing or resetting of furniture. Brian has never missed a Fitness Equipment “tip” night.
