Here is a great member retention story I heard from FRE. A member comes up to the deli to grab lunch after a workout, Jeanette the deli attendant, recognizes it's his birthday and starts to sing Happy Birthday. Others are in the area and they join in too. It turns out the member was going to quit his membership at the end of the month but decided he could not leave a Club that would recognize his birthday like that. Way to go Jeanette, you saved a member. You just can't predict what will happen when you demonstrate that level of Savvy Service.
Susan Volkamer is back in the office on Wednesday, welcome back Susan.
Yesterday I am out to lunch with my family at California Pizza Kitchen in Walnut Creek. They now have the calorie count information on the menu. At first I see that the average pizza is listed between 200 and 230 calories and I am thinking that's great. Then I start thinking that is too good to be true and I see on the bottom of the menu that the calories listed are per slice, and there are 6 slices in a pizza. So go ahead and multiply that by 6. The average calorie count for one of those little pizzas that I usually eat by myself was 1200 to 1380 calories. Consequently I ate half the pizza and brought the other half home. The point of my story is, take advantage of the new calorie information available at restaurants so you can remain in control of your own calorie intake. This information allows you to easily make choices and adjustments that were very difficult in the past while still enjoying the social time of going out.
