Here are a random list of items I think are worth sharing...
--Leisure Sports is the 18th largest club company in the country as sited in Club Industry Magazine. That is fantastic, that list includes all the national chains - 18, nice.
--I am a little late on this one but I wanted to thank all our summer help associates who worked to make the summer a great success for us. Members love our aquatics programs and camps because our associates do such a great job. Good luck at school, study hard, and we will see you next summer.
--Probably one of the most common associate suggestions we get is to develop a ClubSport I Phone ap. Well, we heard you and it's in development. Christina Dort and Travis Shannon have been working with a company to develop an ap. for ClubSport and Renaissance ClubSport. It's main function will be to help members get Group Fit class schedules and other info posted on our web site.
--People love getting "the dirt", we at Ralph's Blog like it too, we just like to keep it positive. Here is what I heard...Heather Stanek, Kathy Spellman and Mary Arnerich are planning on doing the Big Sur Half Marathon in November. Jarod Cogswell is coming down from ORG to run in the Healdsburg Half Marathon in late September. Kay Speaks had a poetry reading at a wine bar in dowtown PLS last week - She said it went well, I forgot to ask if they snapped instead of clapped. Ahmad Ahmadazia in PLS is expecting the birth of his first child tomorrow, Thursday. Iliana Osterholt is getting ready for the Long Beach Marathon in October.
Help me out and let me know what you have going on, or rat out one of your co-workers, I never give up a source.
--FRE Update: This week our second line of Hoist weight machines were installed in FRE. They went over big in PLS and are going over just as well in FRE, the members are loving them. Rob Vargas, Chris Cabellero and the rest of the FRE team did an outstanding job of rearranging the floor to highlight the new equipment while making the fitness floor more functional than ever.
--WC Update: A very nice addition to the pool area is just about complete. That is an awesome cabana for serving food and drink on the pool deck and the C Blue Patio. Dave Grove coordinated the project with the contractor and got the job done. One might think it's a simple process to get something like approved by the city and all the various agencies when in fact it's actually quite complicated. Thank you Dave. We should be open in a week or two, and we will still get some good use out of it this season.
--WC Two: The WC restaurant renovation is 98% complete. It looks fabulous. Brian Amador, Marni Harvey, and Steve Gilmour, along with a design consultant and WC team members, did a wonderful job putting together a cool new look for the entire food and beverage area. This project took about 18 months, most of it in design selection. It's incredibly hard to do picking all the furniture and fabrics, they nailed it. At the same time both Walnut Creek and Aliso Viejo unveiled an all new menu under the direction of Chef Eldon. The members have been loving it. If you are in the NorCal region it's time to take your spouse and/or girlfriend up there for dinner or lunch.
--One more thing then I have to go. Props to Ed Tomlin and Marco Rongen and the AV Team for putting together a totally cool members fantasy football league. They got 40 guys to a few different drafts to set up 4 leagues. They tricked it out with "owner passes" that get participating members food and drink specials as well as preferential seating on game days. That's building membership value.
