Oregon Visit

I was up at ClubSport Oregon on Wednesday and Thursday of this week doing my quarterly walkthrough of the facility and various other meetings. While doing the walkthrough I came across some very innovative things I thought I'd share with you all. The top right picture is Jason Schlager posing with his new "air washer". The mobile unit is a highly sensitive air purifier that can be rolled anywhere you want to purify the air. Think about entering a Group Ex studio that has no oder or stuffiness and is free of allergens and pollutants from the previous class. What a great differentiator from other gyms.
Jason initiated this project and is testing it out for the company. There are 4 other elements to the "Green and Clean" Strategy Jason will be reporting on in October.
Lori Tellas, Programming Director, established a relationship with a local organic farm who now sets up a booth with fruits and vegetables in the pool area. The word is the members are liking the idea and sales are picking up. Buying local and healthy foods at our club, very innovative.
The cool bike racks have also made their way to Oregon, they have four lined up in a little paceline.
Another innovation I don't have a picture of is Swimie the aquatics mascot. I hope I spelled his name right. Aquatics Director Audrey Rozell, created the mascot to have a fun way to post rules and reminders for parents and kids. Audry has a series of pictures and flyers of Swimie doing stuff in the pool area. One picture has Swimie buried in towels with only his eyes showing and he's reminding people to only take the towels they need. What a fun and innovative way to do rule reminders.
The bottom photo is the legendary bleachers at Tualitin High School. I heard a lot about the bleacher workout but never did it until this week. We got out there at 6:30am and got it done. 4 sets of 10, 22 steps (880 steps total) with 1/4 mile jog or field work in between. Thanks Jarod, great workout.
