Nutrition Tidbits

I feel it's my blogger duty to help you make good food choices and when I come across something that seems crazy I'm compelled to let you know. I was packing up some Wheat Thins the other day and I wanted to see what the serving size was and how many calories. I was surprised that 1 ounce of Wheat Thins is about 160 calories, (pictured)interestingly about the same as 1 ounce of potato chips. I could easily drop 2 1/2 servings into a baggie for a snack, or 400 calories worth - ouch. I put the apple in the picture just for scale, but just so you know it is just 80 calories.

A study reported in the IDEA Fitness Journal linked obesity to the quantity of TV's in the household. The more TV's the higher the obesity rate. The reasoning is more TV's translates to more TV time, which means the individuals are subjected to more advertising for junky food even if they are moving around.
