Last week I, along with Jeramy, Brian, Heather, and Dave Dunlap, visited the Star Trac headquarters in Irvine CA. We met with their President Steve Nero, toured their testing facility, and demo'd their new strength line. It has promise but it is too immature to make a decision on. We are looking at replacing a lot of the old selecorized equipment in Pleasanton, it's not bad it's just getting pretty old.
Star Trac has done some innovative things with interactive cardio tracking and workout design. They will create a private website for free where members can download their cardio workout via a USB thumb drive. I like it from the point of view of creating accountability for people who are working on getting into the habit of exercise. They have developed a very intuitive touchscreen for all their next generation cardio equipment. I think we got a good look at where cardio equipment is going in the near future.
