Closing Out Last Week

Last Thursday and Friday I was at the IDEA Convention in Anaheim. IDEA is focused primarily on Group Fitness classes and secondarily on Personal Training. It's one of my favorite conventions because it's about experiencing new Group Fit classes, not just talking about them. The best class I took was on how to make exercise classes fun for 6-10 year olds. The basic idea, make it fun, no winners or losers, and engage their imaginations. I took that class with Amy Tye and Erin Gilmour, I know they enjoyed it as well.
At IDEA they also have a little trade show. The best thing I saw there was this foam roller I have a picture of here. Our foam rollers are a bit of an issue because they wear out so fast. I bought one to try it out and the thing is awesome. Dave Dunlap and I were geeking out over them. I showed my 15 year old daughter and she said half funny half sarcastic, "What is that the latest technology in foam rollers?" It was totally funny and I guess she is right. Keep in mind we had two rollers already. We will be getting these for the Clubs, the members will love them.
In early September I am planning a meeting with all the Group Fit Directors and Wellness Directors to debrief on IDEA and do some next steps planning. I have talked about it before but Group Fitness continues to be a very important part of our over all retention strategy this year and going into 2010.

Associate Referral
It's great to see how many associates we have on the Tote Board, I hope to be able to add a bunch this coming week. We only have 15 more days until we close the August referral and do the drawing for $500. You know that's $500 per property right?
