I has been a while since I posted last and with the new year I thought it was a good time to revive the blog. Post holidays, I decided to really examine my diet, and I started using the Lose It Ap for tracking everything I ate, my weight, and calorie expenditure. It was an eye opening experience for me, and I like to think I am pretty in tune with what I eat. I thought I would pass along some of the things I was reminded of these last two weeks. First a revelation - Probably the most important decision you make, many times a day, is what you eat. Food influences brain function which determines how you feel, your energy level, and your ability to see the world. A less than optimal diet means a compromised ability to deal with the daily stresses of everyday life.
What I learned, or what I was reminded of tracking my diet:
1. Portion control is so important. Measure or weigh your food by the label portions to reduce calorie intake substantially. It's easy to eat 3-4 servings of popcorn for example and down 500 calories.
2. For me, what I eat between 6:00pm and 10:00pm is the difference between me staying within my calorie range or go above.
3. It is very difficult to stay with my calorie target zone without exercise.
1.Track 2.Count 3.Workout
I hope your January is shaping up to be a good one.
