This week is the annual IHRSA convention in San Diego. Yesterday I, along with the Wellness Team, went to the PT on the Net "Meting of the Minds" seminar. It was from 9 am to 7 pm, which was long, but the content was amazing. They had some of the biggest fitness names in the industry speaking on a wide variety of topics.
One of the things that really resonated with me is the idea that pain from exercise is analogous to a check engine light in your car. The light is unspecific and just means you need to check everything out. Applying that to us although a pain in your foot can be very specific, the cause of the pain could be as far away as your glutes. We tend to want to spend a lot of time treating the spot of the pain which does not solve the issue and can be quite discouraging and frustrating. One of the answers is to take a holistic approach to your stretching and strength programs.
Here are a couple quotes I jotted down that I thought were good. "Great visions are achieved
when great minds unite"
"Some people are willing to do what it takes to succeed, while others are eager to do what it takes to succeed"
I thought this summed things up well - "We are in the business of helping people realize their dreams."

Thank you very much for your post. We wanted Meeting of the Minds to be the kind of event you gained perspective, knowledge and excitement from. Reading your blog made us all feel like maybe we were able to accomplish that. Of course we couldn't have done this without the help of the best presenters in the fitness industry.
See you next time!
