Oregon Visit Part 2

One of the challenges we have with the out of area properties is recognizing all the great work department heads are doing at those properties. My intention, through this blog, is to right that wrong. There were a lot of great stories I could choose from in ORG but I narrowed down to two. First I want to tell you about Scott Henderson, Food and Beverage Manager, and Chef Rick. ORG has a full sit down restaurant that is open for lunch and dinner and a deli that's open most all the time. The great part about this story is we have struggled to make any kind of money in Food and Beverage the last few years until 2009. Scott and Rick simplified the menu, got food cost under control, expanded the offerings in the deli. Thanks to these two, and of course the rest of the team, they are having the best financial year ever in the history of the property.

I said I was going to highlight two areas, and I will next week so stay tuned.

Have you ever thought you would like to try swimming for exercise? Now is the absolutely best time. The kids are back to school so things are a lot calmer outside and it's still nice and warm outside. The basic freestyle swim stroke can be somewhat technical but with some basic instruction you can catch on quickly. I found this site SwimSmooth to be very helpful. It has separate sections for beginners, intermediate, and advanced swimmers.

Monday is closeout day for sales, so if the Membership Representatives look a little crazed cut them some slack and maybe hit with a word of encouragement. It's the last chance to get your referrals in to get into the $500 drawing. I will post all the winners here. Thank you to everyone who participated in this campaign. It's not too late to focus on the Disneyland trip in January. You only need 5 referrals to go, it will be totally fun.

I took this picture while on my bike ride Saturday morning. The vineyards this time of year are beautiful, I was feeling very fortunate to be alive.
